Louis C. Purnell

PARSONSBURG - Louis "Lou" Cannon Purnell of North Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Parsonsburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at his daughter's home. Born in Wicomico County, he was the son of the late George M. Purnell and Gladys C. Truitt. He retired from Dresser Wayne in 1992 after 39 years of service as an Inspector Supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge, including Legion of the Moose, Fellowship Degree and 25 Club member Moose. In 1976, he was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball League Hall of Fame as a left fielder. He is survived by two children, Linda Pearce and Larry Purnell, all of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Connie Jones of Salisbury; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mabel Purnell; and wife, Gladys H. Purnell; and son-in-law. A Celebration of Life was held Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Interment was in Wicomico Memorial Park.
