CAMBRDIGE - Levin Howard Lee Jr. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 22, 1928 to Levin and Mary Lee Sr.

He was united in holy matrimony to Alice Lee on Aug. 26, 1947. From this union eight children were born.

He received his education in and graduated from the Dorchester County Public School System.

For many years he and his father, Levin Lee Sr. had a wood cutting business where they supplied wood to clients on the Lower Eastern Shore. From the wood cutting business he studied barbering and later went on to become a Master Barber. He was the owner and operator of Esquire Barber Shop on Pine Street in Cambridge. He was also an inspector for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Board of Cosmetology. It was his sure that all barbers and beauticians maintained their businesses in the way that was required by law.

Although Mr.Lee was a master barber and a state inspector for the Board of Cosmetology, he was skilled in other areas as well. He was able to do carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. He loved working with his hands in any way that he could. His hobbies were playing the guitar, the piano and the harmonica.

He was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church in Bethlehem for over 50 years. He held the office of Deacon until his illness no longer allowed him to perform his duties. As well as serving as a Deacon, he also played the guitar and piano. He loved to sing.

He is survived by five children, Sandra (Clarence) Cornish, Muriel Lee, Anthony Lee, Gail (Victor) Henderson and Cheryl Lee; two sisters, Helen (Bill) Sprow and Non (Randolph) Stanley; one brother, Jerry (Lillian) Lee; 16 grandchildren, Willie (Terry) Kimbrow, Shanelle Kimbrow, Darryl (Keisha) Shields, Marlon Shields, Shawntae (Joseph) Middleton, Troy Lee, Sherena Lee, Tony Lee, Tomeka Lee, Larry Lee Jr., Toyie Lee, LaShawn Lee, Alisha and Marah Benjamin, Shante'a (De Shannon) Lankford and Cierra Washington and a number of great-grandchildren, and other family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lee; four children, Gary, Larry and Vera Lee and Levin Matthews; two sisters, Jessie Lee and Rebecca Ayers.

Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, at Bethel AME Church with Elder Carlston Brisco officiating. Burial will follow in J.R. Brisco Memorial Park in Aireys. There will be a viewing Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home, PA, in Cambridge.
