PRESTON - Kenneth Maurice Friend passed away on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007.

He was born Jan. 14, 1948, in Easton, son of Ellsworth A. Friend Sr. and the late Sarah Elizabeth Elliott Friend.

Kenny, as he was called, received his education in Caroline County (Jonestown Elementary School, Preston and Lockerman High School, Denton. He was a graduate of the class of 1966. He attended Toledo Butchering School in Toledo, Ohio.

Kenny was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 723.

On March 26, 1994, Kenny was united in holy matrimony to Susan Sampson Friend. To this union, there was one daughter, Ashley.

Mr. Friend was employed in Philadelphia as a butcher and worked for the city. After returning to Preston, he was employed at Yales" Underwear Corp., Easton and at Victory Packing, Federalsburg.

He was always taken to church by his parents and remained in church until his passing. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, the Men"s Choir and an usher.

His most interesting hobby was watching and attending ball games. He loved traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; four daughters, Kimberly and Ashley of Easton; Shelby and Tamara of Philadelphia; his father, Ellsworth A. Friend Sr., and brother, Ellsworth A. Friends Jr. both of Preston; sister, Peggy A. Wilson of Easton; mother-in-law, Carrie Sampson of Federalsburg; nine aunts, Corrine Blackwell, Pauline Moaney, Evelyn Elliott and Gladys Elliott all of Easton, Joyce Wright of Hurlock, Ruth E. Thomas, Eunice A. Thomas and Alvalee R. Friend all of Preston and Roberta V. Hayes of Willingboro, N.J.; one uncle, Leon W. Thomas of Preston; a brother-in-law; Preston Wilson of Easton; a sister-in-law, Shirley Raikes of Magnolia, Del.; five nephews, a niece; two special little friends, Janiyah and Jymaree" and a number of other relatives, cousins and friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Elizabeth Elliott Friend and his stepson, Bobby Earl Williams Jr.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at Mt. Calvary UM Church, 22903 Dover Bridge Road, Preston with a viewing one hour prior to service and tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the church. The Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge is handling the arrangements.
