Secretary - Our beloved Kaye Frances Abey passed on to heaven Sunday, August 10, 2014 to be the Lord. She was born on August 1, 1938 in Madison to the late Harold Roland Insley and the late Hazel Elizabeth Hurley Insley. Her paternal grandparents were the late Roland and Cassie Insley of Madison and maternal grandparents were the late Alonza and Venia Hurley of Cambridge. On June 11, 1955, she married the late Leroy Levin Abey, Sr. (Jug) of Secretary where they resided their entire married life. Kaye is survived by a daughter, Sherry Lynn Schubert and her husband Bob; a son, Leroy Levin Abey , Jr. (Tiny Jug) and his wife Paula; four grandchildren, Laura Kay Cannon and her husband Clark, Julie Ann Abey, Leroy Levin Abey III and Louis Melvin Abey; a step-grandson, Robert Corey Schubert; three great- grandchildren, Haley, Carly, and Regan Cannon. She is also survived by a brother, Ronald Insley and his wife Nelda; a sister, Doris George; a niece, Pamela Davis; a nephew, Gene Aaron; an aunt, Dorothy (Dot) Palamaras; an uncle, Bill Insley; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death along with her grandparents, parents, and husband as well as many aunts and uncles is a sister of nine months, Betty Insley; a brother, Carl Insley and his wife Betty; a brother-in-law Donald (Donnie) George; a nephew, Donald Douglas George and a niece, Mary Ann Brite. Kaye grew up and spent her entire life in Dorchester County. She worked at R. J. Reynolds Of Cambridge as a quality control food technician for many years and after her retirement she also worked and retired from Coldwater Seafood. Kaye enjoyed working in the vegetable garden as well as yard work. She loved bingo and metal detecting in her earlier years and enjoyed many cruise ship trips with family and friends. She always had a big heart and a helping hand for anyone who needed her. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, sister-in-law, friend, and most of all a loving and devoted daughter to both her parents. She will be forever deeply missed by so many. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dave Stewart will officiate. Interment will follow in East New Market Cemetery. Billy Abey, Russell Collins, George (G.A.) Rickwood, Denny Todd, Charles George, and Walt Collins will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be James (Dugar) Lauck.
