SALISBURY - Katharine "Kay" Krell Hutchinson died at home on June 16, 2018. She was born Oct. 20, 1925, to William Henry Krell and Katharine Smith Krell, in Chester, Pa. She graduated from Media High School in 1942 and Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Journalism in 1946. She married Robert Hall Hutchinson in 1947; they were married for 69 years and lived in Lancaster and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, before retiring to Chestertown and then Salisbury. She held jobs in journalism and public relations including the Chester Times, Ohio Valley Hospital, Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital and Drayton Methodist Retreat. She was an active volunteer for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the League of Women Voters, and her church altar guilds including St. Alban's in Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2016. She is survived by her children, Bill of Shippensburg, Pa., Peter of Salisbury and Judy of Moline, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Julie Entwisle of Stratford, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held today, Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
