Five juveniles were released to their parents after they were charged with second-degree burglary and malicious destruction of property July 12, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy said the juveniles, all males ranging from 8 to 14, were involved in an incident at 400 Prince Street.

He said at 8:06 p.m. he responded to Prince Street Elementary School for the report of juveniles on the property forcing entry into a portable building.  During the investigation, the deputy met with a witness who reported seeing the juvenile responsible leave the area on foot, the deputy said.

During a check of the area, the deputy located the involved juveniles on an adjacent street and after further investigation, identified them as those responsible for this incident, the deputy said.

All five  were taken to the sheriff’s office, where they were processed and released, the deputy said.

A request for juvenile charges will be submitted to the Department of Juvenile Services, the deputy said.

Woman faces multiple charges

A 42-year-old Salisbury woman was in jail on $7,500 bail charged with resisting arrested, attempting to flee and elude and related charges, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Tawanna Nicole Walker was also charged with speeding, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, displaying a registration plate issued to another vehicle and transporting a child under 8 not in a child safety seat, a deputy said.

Walker was arrested July 12 on Cornish Street in Salisbury after a deputy, at 7:32 p.m., said he observed someone operating an unregistered vehicle.

When the deputy signaled for the car to stop, it accelerated and made attempts to elude, the deputy said.

The car traveled down three streets while the deputy was attempting the traffic stop, he said.

Once the car was stopped, the deputy saw four children that appeared to be under the age of 8 years old sitting in the back seat without seatbelts or child safety seats, the deputy said.

He said he discovered the car registration had been suspended for failure to pay car insurance and to comply with equipment repair orders.

The deputy said the driver initially refused to exit the car.

Woman accused in domestic assault

A 22-year-old Salisbury woman was in jail on $10,000 bail charged with second-degree assault, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Amanda Brooke English was arrested July 12 on Mount Hermon Road at Walston Switch Road at 6:16 p.m., a deputy said.

He said he responded to a domestic complaint that occurred in a vehicle on Mount Hermon Road near Walston Switch.

The deputy said the complainant stated he argued with his girlfriend and she punched him in the side of the head. During the investigation the deputy said he observed signs of injury that corroborated his account.
