SALISBURY - Joseph Henri Perdue died on New Year's Day 2016. Born in Philadelphia on Feb. 22, 1952, he was the son of the late Lewis and Ella Perdue. He grew up on the Eastern Shore and married Georgia Yost in 1995. He worked for the fire service for more than 30 years, first as a volunteer with West Side Fire Department and then joined the city of Salisbury, where he achieved the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2000. During his time as a firefighter, he also became an Instructor with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute at the University of Maryland. In retirement, he was active with Tony Tank Tribe 149 Improved Order of Red Men, Wicomico Lodge No. 91 AF&AM, Women Supporting Women and the Civil War Battlefield Trust. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; son, Cory Perdue; a grandson; two sisters, Juanita Homer and Jeannette Taylor; one brother, Lewis Perdue; and many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, January 8, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 East Main St., Salisbury. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
