John Wesley Adams Jr., 72

HURLOCK - John Wesley Adams Jr., of Hurlock, departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in the Bethesda Naval Medical Center. He was 72. He was the son of the late John and Dorothy Brackett Adams. He retired from the U.S. Marine after 22 years of service. Over the years, he was a self-employed farmer in the Hurlock Area. He was also employed as a Police Officer in Annapolis, Police Chief for St. Michaels, and was the first African American Police Officer in Hurlock. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Adams; a son, John Adams III (Hurlock); three daughters, Joyce Adams (Baltimore), Joan Ennels (Cambridge) and Vonya Adams (Federalsburg); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepsons; five step grandsons; brother, Donald Adams; two sisters, Doris Adams Cephas (Solomon) and Florence Outlaw (William) and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hurlock UM Church Main St Hurlock, with Masonic Services beginning at 10:30 a.m. There is no public viewing. Burial will be scheduled for Arlington Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.henryfuneralhomepa.com.
