John W. Rose Jr., 71

CAMBRIDGE - John W. Rose Jr., 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Chesapeake Woods Center.

He was born in Cambridge on Jan. 6, 1937 and was a son of the late John W. and Gertrude Hurley Rose Sr.

Mr. Rose graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955. On July 4, 1973 he married the former Ruth Swartz.

He worked at the Daily Banner in prior years and later went to work at Cambridge Wire Cloth for 40 years and retired in 1994.

He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Mr. Rose was an exempt member of Rescue Fire Company, where he served as secretary and a member of American Legion Post 91.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ruth Rose of Cambridge; a daughter, Diann Greene of Salisbury; three sons, John Ellerbusch of Cambridge, William Anderson of Cambridge and Carl Anderson of Trappe; nine grandchildren, Hollie, Erick, April, J.D., Debbie, Linda, J.R. Holly and Amy and nine great-grandchildren, Lukas, Christian, Jordan, Noah, Jazlyn, Gavin, Niklus, R.J. and Chloe; a special grandson, Andrew; a nephew, John Bain and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Mondayat Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be John Ellerbusch, William Anderson, Carl Anderson, J.D. Sapuls, Erick Ellerbusch and Charles Mapp.
