John Radford Coffman
John Radford Coffman, beloved brother and cousin, passed away from cancer on October 27, 2023 in Timonium, MD. Born in Salisbury, MD on January 21, 1957 to William R. Coffman and Nancy V. Coffman.
He is survived by his brother, James R. Coffman (Jo Ellyn Norman); and cousins, Anza L. Evans, Mary L. Fallon (Donald and Bradford), William Coffman and Susan Hellekson. In addition, John had an incredible "family" of treasured lifelong friends.
After graduating from James M. Bennett High School in 1975, John worked for years in hospitality and golf club customer service in Florida and Washington, DC at some very prestigious properties. He also owned and operated Buck's Seafood market in Salisbury for five years. He then started his own residential lawn care business, Backyard In A Bag, beautifying neighborhoods across Baltimore County until he retired in the spring of 2023. The common thread with all his work was his love of people and his dedication to always providing superior service.
He was a kind man with an amazing gift for humor and conversation. Passionate about sports, he was an avid fan of the Baltimore Colts, the Ravens, the Orioles, FSU football and UMD Terps basketball. In recent years, he lovingly spent time officiating youth football and baseball leagues. Bass fishing was his favorite pastime along with spoiling his dear Buddy cat.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
In his honor, memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County (
