CAMBRIDGE - John Jay Hummer, II, passed away peacefully, with his daughters by his side, on January 5, 2016 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. Born April 25, 1959, in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of John Jay Hummer of Denver, CO and Julia Claire Payne of Cockeysville, MD. John was employed as a boat builder and fabricator at Gateway Marina. He was previously employed as a caretaker for the Brady family on Middleville Farm. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Cambridge, and served as a volunteer at the Trappe Fire Department. John was a loving father and adored his three daughters. He enjoyed being with his family, cooking and entertaining friends, watching NASCAR, powerboat races, fishing, playing guitar, and being on the water. John had a huge heart and a gentle soul. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Ann Scott Hummer. He is survived by his daughters; Emily Rose Hummer Sard, her husband Ronnie of Easton, MD, Rachel Nichole Hummer and Chloe Ann Hummer of Cambridge; brothers, Geoff Hummer of Whitehall, MD and David Hummer of Cockeysville, MD; half siblings, Laurel Albritton-Gorman of Oak Ridge, TN, Kevin Albrittion of Goss, MS, and Trish Albritton of Denver, CO, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Chico.
