John Holdgrafer, 66

TANGIER, VA. - John Holdgrafer, 66, husband of Dawn Holdgrafer and a resident of Tangier, Va., for 42 years passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at his residence.

Born on Dec. 4, 1940, in Queens, N.Y., and reared a Navy "kid," Mr. Holdgrafer was the son of Amby Holdgrafer of Salisbury, Md., and the late Violet Holdgrafer. He was a waterman.

Other than his wife and father, he is survived by a daughter, Claudette Brown of Tangier; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Other than his mother, he was predeceased by a daughter, Angela Pruitt, a son, Jonathan Holdgrafer and a great-grandson, Ayden Brown.

A memorial service was held at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007. The Rev. John R. Jones Sr. and Tracy Moore officiated.

Arrangements by the Williams Funeral Homes, Inc., Onancock and Parksley, Va.
