John Everett Jackson, 58
CAMBRIDGE - John Everett Jackson, 58, passed away on Friday March 21, 2008 at Easton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 17, 1949, son of Delores P. Watts and the late John H. Perry.
John attended the public schools in Dorchester County and was a 1976 graduate of Mace's Lane High School. He continued his education at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.
He held various jobs throughout his life. His first place of employment was with Bumble Bee Tuna Can Co. in Cambridge. He also worked as a Stationary Engineer for Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Campus in Princess Anne.
Johnny became a Christian at a young age. He became a member of Zion Baptist Church and was baptized there under the leadership of the Rev. Conrad J. Branch. He also served as a trial Deacon at Zion.
While living in the Wicomico County area, he became a member of Union United Methodist Church, Delmar. Sometime after returning to the Cambridge area, he joined the Anointed One Ministries under the leadership of the Rev. Lemuel Chester.
Johnny enjoyed singing and he sang with the men's choir. He was also a member of the Wilson Singers of New Revived United Methodist Church (formerly Jefferson United Methodist Church) Smithville.
He survived by his mother, Delores P. Watts; stepfather, Ernest Watts Sr.; two brothers, Min. Dwight Jackson and wife, Belinda Jackson and Medger Johnson; a stepbrother, the Rev. Ernest Watts Jr. and his wife, the Rev. Roslyn Watts of Cambridge; one aunt, Mildred Timmons and husband, Bill Timmons of Snow Hill; one great-aunt, Katherine Bryant of Baltimore; one great-uncle, Hubert Young; three nieces, Renee White, Tinishia Jackson and Tamela Watts; three nephews, William Chester, Dwight Jackson Jr. and Ernest Watts III; a special nephew, Eugene Nutter; seven great-nieces and nephews and number of other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father, John H. Perry; grandparents, James E. Pinder, Rachel R. Woolford, James E. Perry and Rosie Perry; four uncles, Bernard Hackett, Levin Perry, Weldon G. Jackson and Sidney Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Christ UM Church, Aireys Road with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
