SALISBURY - John Thomas DeBerardinis died at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017. Born in Putnam, Conn., he was the son of the late Thomas and Sara Rhodes DeBerardinis. He the University of Connecticut and received a Master's Degree in Extension Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. Following graduate school, he was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy in July 1967. He spent most of his career as an administrator with University of Maryland, University College, until his retirement in 1997. He relocated to Salisbury in 2001. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Dawson DeBerardinis, sons; John Jay and Jeffrey Thomas; four grandchildren; a sister, Carol DeBerardinis Wozniak; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury. Interment will be at a family gathering in Thompson, Conn. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
