On Tuesday, T. Jan Wiseman, President of the Greater Salisbury Committee for the past 13 years, passed away at his home. We all mourn his passing and he will be greatly missed in this community.
Jan was always looking to further the mission of The Greater Salisbury Committee to identify community problems and work toward broad and sound solutions to these challenges. His tireless work made this community a better place in which to live and work.
Jan was instrumental in the joint effort by the city and county, working with the business sector and community members to develop a strategic plan for the cleanup and revitalization of the waterfront along the North prong of the Wicomico River.
His energy and talent brought representatives of the city and county governments together with community members through business roundtables. He developed leadership programs for public school teachers and a student leadership award program with our three area colleges; SU, UMES and Wor-Wic Community College.
Jan also believed in and worked to further the incredible growth of the space program at the NASA facility at Wallops Island.
Jan Wiseman will be missed by his family, his many friends and by the community he adopted and loved.
He believed in Salisbury and his calm demeanor, professionalism and incomparable experience and talent have made a lasting mark on every person he met and every project he undertook.
