Joe Holloway seeks County Council re-election

Posted

Wicomico County Councilman Joe Holloway has filed for his fourth term, representing District 5.

Holloway, 64, a Republican who lives in Parsonsburg, said he is seeking re-election to continue working for county residents.

Serving the area from west of Delmar to the Wicomico-Worcester County border, east of Willards and south to Mount Hermon Road, Holloway said he feels he represents all citizens.

Labeled early as a fiscal watchdog and one of the most conservative members of the Council, Holloway said he is proud of the work he has done to save taxpayer dollars and enjoys problem solving and working with citizens one-on-one.

He said he strives to maintain that delicate balance between fiscal responsibility and providing county services.

A lifelong Wicomico County resident and business owner, Holloway said he believes Wicomico “is already a great place to live.”

His goal is to assure it grows responsibly “with the goal of providing a safe, affordable and enjoyable place to live, work and raise a family,” he said.

Holloway said he is also pleased the council didn’t accept a donation of land before commissioning an environmental study. That study revealed problems that would have been costly to remedy.

“I’m proud that we, as a council, got the budget through with a little tax decrease. We got an elected school board. We supported the COAT program,” he said, referring to the program designed to tackle the heroin and opioid epidemic.
