EASTON - Joan B. "Jill" Corkran, 79, of Easton, formerly of Hurlock, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at William Hill Manor in Easton. Born May 27, 1930, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John J. "Whitey" Barth and Georgia Simmons Barth. She was a graduate of Goldey Beacom College and for many years worked as the office manager for O.W. Corkran & Company, Inc., an accounting firm in Hurlock. She was a member of Unity Washington United Methodist Church in Hurlock, a founding member and a long time board member of the Pat Hopkins Scholarship Fund; a member of the Dorchester County Farm Bureau, and a former member of the Caroline County Country Club and a former member of Hurlock American Legion Post 243 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, JoAnne C. Crowder of Easton and her husband Glenn; a granddaughter, Hayley Crowder of Easton; two brothers, H. William Barth of Silver Spring and John Barth of Chestertown and his wife Shelly; a sister-in-law, Nancy Corkran McCulley of Dunkirk, and her husband Doug; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at East New Market Cemetery. Rev. Ruth Tull will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pat Hopkins Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 216, Hurlock, MD 21643. Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market is handling the arrangements.
