CAMBRIDGE - Jim L. Brummett, 48, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Dorchester General Hospital.

He was born Jan. 30, 1959, in Pineville, Ky., and was a son of Red Brummett and the late Carrie Brock Brummett.

Mr. Brummett attended schools in Kentucky. He had lived in the Cambridge area for a number of years and had worked as a maintenance man at the Leonards Grove Apartments. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing, loved sports, spending time with his family and hanging out with his friend Gary "Pappy" Schulte.

Survivors include five sisters: Barbara Wilson of North Carolina, Vada Dozier of Pineville, Amanda Miracle of Pineville, Martha Brummett of Pineville, and Mary Simmons and her husband, Mike Simmons of Cambridge; two brothers, Clyde Brummett and Harvey Brummett, both of Pineville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Brummett.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. George W. Wheatley Jr. officiating. Burial will take place in Kentucky at a later date.
