Jewel B. Banning, 68 EW ORLEANS, La. - Jewel B. Banning, age 68 years, died on Sunday, May 2, 2010, in New Orleans, La. Beloved wife of Donald Banning for the past 45 years. Mother of Donna B. Brown, Amy B. Carroll, D. Scott Bannning and Travis Bourgeois. Sister of L. J. Berteau II, Clarence Burteau, James Francis Burteau and Betty B. Carmody. Daughter of the late Loney Gautreau and Lucien Berteau. Grandmother of Ashley and Sarah Banning, Elana and Adira Brown and Sam Carroll. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Banning was a resident of Harahan, La., for 35 years and spent many summers in Cambridge, Md. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, the Concert Choir of New Orleans and was an accomplished musician who loved to share her talent with others. She was also an advocate and teacher for the National Federation of the Blind. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend Memorial Services on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 Rex Drive, River Ridge, La., with the Rev. Fr. Jay Angerer officiating. Inurnmen was in the church columbarium. In lieu of the usual remembrances, memorial donations are suggested to the National Federation of the Blind, 101 S.
