MT. VERNON - Jennie Wade Ward, 84, of Mt. Vernon died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Coastal Hospice on the Lake in Salisbury.
She was born in Washington on July 2, 1922. Her late parents were Catherine Byrd and Thomas R. Byrd Sr.
Mrs. Ward graduated from Crisfield High School, class of 1942, and was employed by Western Union Telegraph in Crisfield. She moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1945 and worked for Western Union Telegraph in Long Beach, becoming manager of that office before retiring in 1973, when she returned to Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth R. Ward of Crisfield-Mt. Vernon; her son, Stephen Ward of Mt. Vernon; her daughter, Cecelia Brown of Long Beach; her sister, Catherine Ward of Salisbury; her brother, Richard Byrd of Marion Station; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Ward requested no viewing or funeral services. Donations may be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802-1733
