CRISFIELD - Jane Yvonne Mae "Ukie" Horsey, 73, departed this life on Resurrection, Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury.
Born Nov. 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Albert Collins and Rosie Ames.
"Ukie," as everyone knew her, was educated in the Somerset County Public Schools. She was employed with Alan Tyler's Seafood Company, as well as housekeeping and caretaking. At an early age, she became an active member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, serving with several organizations such as the usher board and the choir until her health no longer permitted.
She is survived by two daughters, Vivian Freeman of Titusville, Fla., and Debbie Horsey of Crisfield; five sons, George "Greg" Ames of Cambridge, Riley Ames of Baltimore, Michael Horsey and Robin "Orlando" Ames, both of Crisfield, and Terry Dave of Dover; one sister-in-law, Mildred Horsey of Baltimore; two daughters-in-law, Lucy Ames, of Millersville, and Robin Ames of Baltimore; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She raised one grandchild, Gavin, and two sisters, Omeda Timmons of Philadelphia and Gloria Ames of Glenn Dale.
One child, John Edward Horsey Jr., and her husband, John "Jughead" Edward Horsey, preceded her in death.
A funeral service was held Saturday at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Crisfield.
Services were in the care of Anthony Ward Funeral Home.
