James Williams Travers, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at home.
He was born on September 22, 1951 in Baltimore, Md., son of the late James William travers, Sr. and Rita Travers.
He was educated in Dorchester County School system. He worked at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, Robinson Chemical, and retired from Maryland Wire Belt.
James was an excellent hunter and fisherman. He taught others how to hurt especially deer hunting. He loved to take his boat out and enjoy fishing. He had a lot of trophies that he won from fishing tournaments.
James leaves to cherish his wife, Estella Travers; six children, Shermaine Perkins, Jamie Travers, Amy Travers, Jennifer Dockins (Lamar), Shanika Travers, and Jason Travers. Also a father to Fred Demby (Bonita), April Fletcher (Latraun), and Michelle Lyons (John). 13 Grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. 4 sisters Christine Anderson (Theodore), Rev. Elsie Ennals (Oliver), Lois Dillard (Ivory) and Lucinda Thomas (James). One uncle Bedford Johnson Sr. (Lucille)., 5 aunts Lucille Mason, Annie Mae Perry, Mary Molock (Otis), Pauline Molock (Bobby) and Barbara Molock.
He loved Lamar, Fred and Latraun as his own sons.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by a son, James William Travers (3rd), a sister Betty Travers, a brother Edward Mundy, a nephew Dontra Travers and other relatives.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. July 11, 2020 at Living By Truth Ministries, 807 Chesapeake Drive, Cambridge, Md.
