CRISFIELD - James Russell "Russ" Walters passed away on January 30 at Integrace Bayleigh Chase in Easton, MD. He was born on March 4, 1923 in Crisfield, MD to Matthew and Ruth Parks Walters. Russ grew up in Crisfield and graduated from Crisfield High School in 1941. After high school, he served as a staff sergeant in the army in both France and the Philippines during World War II. He worked for Stidham Tire Co. in Baltimore, MD and later moved to Arlington, VA where he opened his own independent tire store. Upon retirement, he moved from the D.C. area to St. Michaels and later Easton, MD. Russ enjoyed spending time on and around the water, and played tennis until he was 80. Russ Walters was preceded in death by his first wife of 20 years, Rosalie Lewis Walters; his son, James Russell Walters, Jr.; and his second wife of 45 years, Mary Mackall Walters. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen W. Along, her husband James, their children Gina and Joseph; his step-children, Thomas and Stephen Ray; and his sister, Ruth W. Sterling of Crisfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. All funeral services will be private.
