James Leon Stanley
CAMBRIDGE - James Leon Stanley, 74, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at his home.
He was born March 13, 1933 in Dorchester County, son of the late Richard and Blanche Waters Stanley.
Mr. Stanley was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County and a graduate of St. Clair High School, Class of 1951.
He enlisted into the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Upon his return home is was employed with Acme Cannery in Hurlock, Maryland and Continental Can from which he retired after 32 years of employment.
Mr. Stanley was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Cambridge. He was married to the late Lillian Molock Stanley.
He is survived by his children, James D. Stanley Sr. (Upper Marlboro), Rodney Stanley (Baltimore), Richard Stanley (Johnstown, Pa.), Donna Speller (Easton), Marsha Williams (Federalsburg) and Gordon Stanley (Harmony); two daughters in-law, Patricia Stanley (Upper Marlboro) and Pattie Jones Stanley (Baltimore); a son in-law, John Williams (Federalsburg); grandchildren, James D. Stanley Jr. (Upper Marlboro), Rodney Todd (Salisbury), Jamial Stanley and Jerrica Stanley (both of Easton), Richard Stanley Jr. (Lanham), Briana Williams and John Williams Jr.; stepchildren, William Boddy Jr. (Mary), Renee Cook, Paulette Cornish (Michael), Clifford Boddy (Crestre) and Lanny Boddy; a sister, Sarah E. Erving (Cambridge); two brothers, Benjamin Stanley (Phila., Pa.) and Joseph Stanley (Cambridge); brother in-law, Elwood Molock; a sister in-law, Betty Overton; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins; a friend, Thelma Young and other friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martina Cornish and Pauline Johnson and two brothers, Samuel Stanley and Leroy Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 712 Bradley Ave., Cambridge. Burial will follow in the Veterans' Cemetery, Hurlock.
The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Henry Funeral Home, PA, 510 Washington St., Cambridge.
