It’s about dogs and science on this 3rd Friday

This Friday is another 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury Artists and crafters fill the streets, with live music on the Plaza by Muskrat Lighting.

This month’s theme is combo — WEIRD SCIENCE and PAW PRINTS.

Rain prevented outdoor activities in May, but have no fear: Science is back in June and it’s combined with Salisbury’s favorite dog friendly theme.

So bring the pooch, and get ready for slime and wacky experiments in Downtown Salisbury.

For all things Science & Slime, check out the North Division Street area. The Eastern Shore Ghostbusters will have their converted ECTahOe1, movie accurate props and a free slime lab set up for everyone to come out and enjoy.

The ES Ghostbusters also want to know if there is something strange in your neighborhood — and will talk about ghost hunting with an open mind.

Check out Ava’s Slime Shop, M-4 Reactor’s 3-D printers plus, hands on science experiments and more. Plus check out ‘Science Night’ in the Downtown Visitor Center with Dr. Z and Dr. C from Salisbury University — with cool fossils, minerals and a real Mammoth Bone from the Ice Age.

Also on North Division Street, check out the Tri County District 1st Annual Corporate Pinewood Derby, in support of the Tri County District Boy Scouts.

Watch grown adults and local businesses race cars that they created, as they compete and bribe the judges for prizes, accolades and bragging rights. The rules are there are no rules — and check out the Pit Stop After Party at The Brick Room.

For all things Dogs — check out two areas — the parking lot of One Plaza East, and the new Market Street area in front of The Acorn Market.

Fetch Dog Co., a local dog walking, sitting and doggy day care, will be hosting a dog show – with categories for tiniest dog, ugliest dog, best dressed, judges choice – show starts at 6 p.m., and registration is over at 5:45 – with eight dogs accepted for each category.

Down on Market Street, the Salisbury Kennel Club will be out with agility courses for your dogs to try.

On the Plaza, artists and crafters fill the streets, and there will be live music by Muskrat Lightning.

The Salisbury Jaycees will be pouring local craft beer and wine, with tips going to the Wicomico Humane Society.

Plus, be sure to stop by St. Peter’s Episcopal Courtyard for the annual Blessing of the Animals at 5:10 p.m. and 6 p.m., all are welcome, and while you’re there check out their commemorative merch for their 250th anniversary.

The shops and businesses are ready for spring with special events planned.

Kuhns Jewelers has found the perfect gift the unique man in your life — pure tantalum. No. 73 on the Periodic Table, tantalum is a blue-grey metal that is hypoallergenic, crack-resistant, durable and rare.

Barefoot Baby Boutique hosting a meet and greet with local artist Jenell Willey — who will be showing off her famous dog portraits and taking commissions.

Check out the ribbon cutting for Film Crew Productions, an all new corporate video space next to Tony Weeg Photography Studios — come celebrate the expanding partnership between Tony Weeg, and videographer Maurice Waters Jr.

The Downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday. Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill will live music by Bohdi Wolfe from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the dog-friendly patio, and late night jams with DJ SL.

Brew River Restaurant and Bar will have a Friday Night Dock Party with the Island Boys from 6 to 10.

Market Street’s patio is also dog friendly, and they will have DJ Juan 9:30 p.m. to close, and Mojo’s will have DJ Vybe.

3rd Friday is a Downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District. For More Information: 3rdFridaySby.com.
