In-person 3rd Friday returns this week to Downtown

Posted

3rd Friday will return to Downtown Salisbury this week with a socially distanced, shopping-focused event from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will not feature live music, or additional activities, but will instead focus on providing retail opportunities for local artisans.

An online virtual event will also be held, for those who choose to stay safer at home, complete with artist highlights and messages from the community.

This year, 3rd Friday will take place on North Division Street by Mogan’s Oyster House, extending north to Church Street by Cake Art.

The event will also extend down one block of Main Street to Court Street, by the old Post Office.

Vendor booths will be distanced 10 feet apart, and hand sanitizing stations, as well as, handwash stations will be provided.

Facemasks are required, and visitors are asked to maintain 6 feet social distance whenever possible.

Parking and road closures can be expected in the area between 2 and 3 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to explore some of the many changes going on in Downtown Salisbury.  West Main Street construction continues, with exciting progress under way. New storefronts are opening, like Lilac Clothing Co.’s new location on West Main Street, Lurking Class Skate Shop’s new digs a few doors up from its previous spot, and the addition of Soul Yoga Studio.

Another way to explore is to pick up a Public Art Walking Tour pamphlet, made available online and at 3rd Friday, and explore the many works of art Downtown, from sculptures and murals to painted power boxes.

Visitors are also encouraged to carry out or dine-in at one of Downtown Salisbury’s fantastic restaurants – all open and ready to guests.

This month’s theme is “Up in the Air.” Community members are encouraged to participate by sending in photographs of their favorite things that are up in the air, from birds and clouds, to airplanes and the moon.

Submissions will be online in the virtual event, and in an event recap e-blast after the event. Online offerings allow 3rd Friday to remain accessible to all its fans during this time.

Local artists and crafters can register for 3rd Friday by emailing a description of their wares to 3rdFridaySBY@gmail.com.

3rd Friday is a Downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, in partnership with the city of Salisbury.  For More Information:  3rdFridaySby.com.
