Acorn Market in Downtown Salisbury is promising Christmas magic the weekend of Dec. 15 to 17, when the restaurant presents the 1st Annual Holiday Carriage Rides.
Rides cost $5 and passengers will enjoy hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.
There will also be a holiday buffet with turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans on the menu at a cost of $8.99 for adults and free for children younger than 6.
The half-mile a carriage ride will begin at Acorn Market, continue to Market Street and proceed through the Downtown Plaza, said Christine Braughler, owner of Acorn Market, situated on the first level of the vintage building at 150 West Market St.
“We have our elves and our magic. There is always magic here at Acorn Market,” she said.
“The girls at Morgan Stanley upstairs will do the caroling for us. It’s turning out well. The Downtown Tree Lighting was Nov. 16. Acorn Market is open through the holidays. We wanted to kick off the festivities and the holiday season and we thought the horse and carriage was a phenomenal way to do it,” Braughler said.
Also that weekend, Angello’s Unique Gifts, adjacent to the restaurant, will have a sale and offer free gift wrapping and shoppers can design gift baskets, Braughler said.
“Carriage rides around Downtown will be a gorgeous way to spend an evening in Downtown Salisbury,” said Mayor Jake Day said.
“The holidays can be so special on the Eastern Shore but I believe people are eager for special treats like carriage rides, as well as skating rinks and a Christmas village.”
