Hazel Lee Chester

Hazel Lee Chester, 100

CAMBRIDGE - Hazel Lee Chester passed away on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Helen Lee.

Mrs. Chester was educated in the public school of Newark, NJ and New York City.

In 1955, she married Leon Chester Sr.

Mom Hazel, as she was called, enjoyed sewing, baking, playing music for her church, singing in the choir and going to the Day Care Center in Hurlock until her health failed.

Mrs. Chester was a member of Wallace Temple AME Zion Church in Rhodesdale.

She is survived by a son, Leon Chester Jr. (wife Marie), Rhodesdale; a daughter, Shawn Chester (Baltimore, MD); a brother, Kenneth Harner (Philadelphia, Pa.); two granddaughters, Anyaina Jones (Georgia) and Kay Johnson (Baltimore); two grandsons, Leon Chester III (Rhodesdale) and Crawford Dennard (Randallstown); nine great-grandchildren; two nieces, Frances Williams (Cambridge) and Elizabeth Hooper (husband, Rubin), Cambridge; two nephews, Linwood Chester (wife, Magaline), Baltimore and Granville Chester (Seattle, Wash.)

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Monroe Dennard.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at Wallace Temple AME Zion Church, Kraft Road Rhodesdale, with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery.

The Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge is handling the arrangements.
