Harvey Carlisle Cook

WALLINGFORD, Pa. - Harvey Carlisle Cook Harvey Carlisle Cook of Wallingford, Pa. and La Plata, Md., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. He was the son of the late John Morrison Cook. and the late Lula Warfield Cook of Cambridge, Md. Born in Dorchester he was raised at the Warfield's Country Store, Hills Point by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Holly Warfield. Harvey served with the Maryland Marine Police for his entire career rising from patrolman to Lieutenant Colonel, retiring as Deputy Superintendent. Following his career in law enforcement, he worked as Director of Hovercraft Training and Operations for Hover Systems, Inc., of Essington, Pa., working with the US Coast Guard air-cushion vehicle program. He subsequently formed his own consulting company, Cook and Associates, providing services to marine companies in safety and security, also providing expert witness testimony. Harvey was also a past Flotilla Commander in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Fifth Northern Region. The governor of Kentucky commissioned Harvey a Colonel in the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels. Harvey was a volunteer and Auxilian with Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, Pa. He held a BS in Business and Management from the University of Maryland, an AA in Police Science from Charles County Community College, a certificate in Criminal Justice from the University of Virginia, a Para-legal Certificate from the University of Maryland, and he was a graduate of the FBI National Academy at Quantico. He also held a US Coast Guard Masters License in 100 ton vessels and multi-engine air-cushion vehicle. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mudd-Cox Cook; his children - Brenda, Corky, John and Anne; his brother, John LaRue Cook; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives called at the Cavanagh Funeral Home, 43 E. Baltimore Pike, Media, on Dec. 15. Viewing was held at 11 a.m., followed by his Memorial Service at Noon. Burial was held at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf on Dec. 16 at noon. In lieu of flowers donations are welcome to Riddle Memorial Hospital Associated Auxiliaries, 1068 West Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063
