Habitat’s innovative ReStore to celebrate 31 years

Posted

One of the community’s great nonprofits is celebrating another milestone this weekend.

For 31 years the Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County ReStore has been selling items from building materials, to furniture, to appliances to the general public.

Staff members as well as volunteers help operate the store on West Isabella Street in Salisbury and keep donated merchandise moving in and out of the ReStore.

The store is a busy place worth a visit. In just the past 12 months, 618 customers purchased cabinets, 2,239 electronics items were sold, 4,870 transactions of building materials were made,

and 1,140 chairs were purchased bought by ReStore customers.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used building materials, furniture, home accessories, and appliances to members of the community at a fraction of the retail price.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStores are proudly owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity affiliates.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Isabella Street in Salisbury is owned by Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County, and all proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope in our neighborhoods.

Items move in and out of the ReStore on a daily basis, with refrigerators, stoves, and a large shipment of display furniture the most recent “hot-ticket” items to arrive in stock. Savvy shoppers know to visit the store frequently to get the best bargains.

The ReStore is open Tuesday through Saturday at 10 a.m.
