Gladys O. Blades

CRISFIELD - Gladys O. Blades died Monday, Mar. 13, 2017, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born in Crisfield on Feb. 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Edith Marshall. Her husband, James Parker Blades, Sr., died in 1968.
She was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, reading, her cats, and watching soaps on TV.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Byrd in 2009; and a brother, Thomas Marshall, Jr.
She is survived by three children, Patsy Reinick and husband, Reuben, of Virginia Beach, Va., James "Jim" Blades and wife, Patti, of Pocomoke and Beverly Lynch and husband, Dale, of Pocomoke; eight grandchildren, Teresa Hall, Billy Justice, Laura Evans, Chris Byrd, Brian Roman, Barbara Alford, Steve Roman, and Jennifer Lynch; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and many special caregivers.
A graveside funeral service and interment were held Friday, Mar. 17, 2017, at 1 p.m., at Sunnyridge Memorial Park. The Rev. Bob Daniels officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tawes Nursing Home, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 28117; or the American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
