Gillis Gilkerson recently announced the completion of an interior renovation in the E.S. Adkins Business Complex to meet the needs of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.

United Way has been an occupant of the ES Adkins complex since 2004, and recently made the move to accommodate the organization’s growth.

“The United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore works diligently to support the local community,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson.

“Gillis Gilkerson wanted to give back and in-turn donated a portion of the completed work back to the organization and asked the same of other local businesses,” Miller said. “The response was remarkable – not a single business said ‘no.’”

“Thanks to the commitment and determination from Gillis Gilkerson, the United Way staff and volunteers are working in the most beautiful office space in the county,” said Kathleen Mommé, executive director, United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.

“Through the leadership of Dwight Miller, donations came pouring in from community businesses,” she said. “We are so grateful to everyone who has helped make this a seamless transition during our busiest time of the year. This move was truly a blessing for the United Way.”

Through the leadership of The Adkins Co. from Bill Turner, Gillis Gilkerson from Dwight Miller and the great work of our local United Way, in-kind donations of products and services from local companies towards the relocation and renovation of the United Way of The Lower Eastern Shore

totaled approximately $160,000.
