HEBRON - George Robert Alexander died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at his home. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Elmer Alexander Sr. and Amanda Hopkins Alexander. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1955, where he served until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the American Legion in Hebron, Uprising Church in Hebron and a life member of the VFW Post No. 194. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley M. Shores Alexander; three sons, Jay Shores, Gary Shores and George Alexander Jr.; two daughters, Lisa Wilkinson and Victoria Ward; eight grandchildren; a brother, Woodrow Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Alexander Jr. and Hollis Jones Sr.; a sister, Carrie Lemon; and a great-grandson. A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment was at Hebron Cemetery.
