SALISBURY - George Franklin Owens died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Everett William Owens Sr. and Grace Christina Church Owens. He graduated from Wicomico Senior High in 1967 and furthered his education at Wor-Wic Community College with a degree in Business Phi Theta Kappa and CCBC Catonsville Mortuary Science Program. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1968, where he was awarded the Navy Achievement Award and Medal for his classified service in Vietnam. He was employed at Crown Cork & Seal in Fruitland for 31 years and briefly at Holloway Funeral Home. He was a member of Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene and Grace United Methodist Church. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 194 and a member of the American Legion Post 64, both in Salisbury. He is survived by a daughter, Deanne Vaness Logan; a son, Dwayne Eric Owens; a stepdaughter, Gretchen Mogle; one grandaughter; a brother, Everett "Bill" William Owens Jr. of Berlin; and a sister, Carolyn Sue Walston of Delmar; and many nephews and nieces A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene. Interment was at the Eastern Shore Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
