KISSIMMEE, Fla. - George Clarke Webb Jr., 83, formerly of Federalsburg passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 with his wife by his side, at the Village of Good Samaritan, Kissimmee.

Clarke, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on Sept. 14, 1923 in Preston, son of the late Dr. George Clarke and Mary Ross Webb.

He graduated from Federalsburg High School and attended Goldey Beacon College in Wilmington, Del. After attending school he served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked for Eastern Shore Public Service in Federalsburg and for the Delware Electric Co-Op in Greenwood, Del., from which he retired in 1982.

Mr. Webb lived most of his life in the Frederica-Felton area and after retirement enjoyed living in Florida and North Carolina. While in this area he was a member of the Nanticoke Lodge 172 A.F. & A.M., Federalsburg, the Nur Shrine Temple in Wilmington, Del. and was a former member of the VFW Post 5246 in Federalsburg.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cecile Marie Webb of Kissimmee, Fla.; his twin daughters, Judith W. Stevenson and her husband, William of Dover, Del., Joan W. Paynter and her husband, Reed of Gold Canyon, Ariz. and three grandsons, Ross Clarke Paynter of Mesa, Ariz., Matthew Thomas Stevenson of Dover Del. and Michael James Stevenson of Las Vegas. In addition he leaves behind twin great-grandsons, Cody and Bobby Stevenson and lifetime friends, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Davis of Bridgeville, Del. and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wright of Berlin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Henry Webb of Sharptown; a sister, Mary Jane Webb Parker of Southern Pines, N.C. and his first grandson, Jason Reed Paynter.

A memorial service will be held at the Williamson Funeral Home in Federalsburg at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Blanche Powell officiating. Burial will be in Newville, Pa.
