CAMBRIDGE - Genevieve E. Finley, 87, died Friday night, July 27, 2007, at her home in Cambridge, Md.
Born in Springfield, Mo., she is the daughter of Jacob and Ella Albert.
She was a graduate of the Springfield State Teacher"s College with a bachelor of arts degree in education. In 1941 she moved to Washington and married Cyrus G. Finley Jr. There she attended American University to complete pre-medical courses. She worked during World War II for the Department of the Navy and Air Force intelligence.
She resided with her husband in Montgomery County, raising Black Angus cattle and planting corn and rye. They retired to the Neck District, Cambridge, in 1973. After her husband"s death, Mrs. Finley operated a bed and breakfast from her home for several years.
She is survived by her two children, Patricia and Gary Finley and his wife, Robin; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Cyrun and Erin Finley, and a step-grandson, Gram Burkett.
A memorial service will be held at St. John"s Episcopal Church in Cornersville at 1 p.m. Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to the Neck District Volunteer Fire Department, 954 Cooks Point Road, Cambridge, Md., or to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, P.O. Box 17450, Baltimore, MD 21297-1450.
