SALISBURY - Galen R. Hammond died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake surrounded by his family. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Reese and Mary Hammond. After graduating in 1964 from Wicomico High School, he served in the Army National Reserve for four years. He retired from Perdue Farms where he was a truck driver for many years. He was a former longtime active member of the Salisbury Optimist Club and was a member of Liberty Church of Christ in Salisbury. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Hammond; four children, Gale Pierson, Ray Hammond, Valerie Paquin and Chris Brown; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Palmer, Marlene Keene, and Beth Bradford; brothers, Arlie Hammond and Boyd Hammond; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 27, at 1 p.m. at Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Department on Old Ocean City Road. Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury.
