CAMBRIDGE - Frances Turner Middleton, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge.
She was born in Cambridge on Jan. 7, 1929, and was a daughter of the late William Frank and Mary Virginia Hughes Turner.
She attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. On Nov. 30, 1951, she was married to James J. Middleton.
After she graduated from high school she went to work for Dashiell and Leonard and later worked for Western Publishing from 1962 until she retired after 30 years in 1992. Fran had also worked part-time at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. for a number of years.
She was a charter member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she had been president of the Ladies Guild and had been quite active in numerous church activities. She enjoyed cooking and traveling and was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and had also been an avid collector of Hallmark ornaments and Angels.
She was the treasurer of the CHS Class of 1946 reunion committee and enjoyed getting together with her classmates on a regular basis for lunch. She had been in failing health for several months when she passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center.
Survivors include her husband, James J. Middleton of Cambridge; one daughter, Wendy K. Rue and her husband, Woodrow W. Rue II of Cambridge; one son, Gary W. Middleton and his wife, Beverly F. Middleton of East New Market; two grandchildren, Jamie O. Middleton and his wife Jenny Middleton of Vienna and Woodrow W. Rue III of Cambridge; two stepgrandchildren, Dana L. Lowe and Richard R. Saunders and his wife, Amanda Saunders; four step-great-grandchildren, Brooke Lowe, Rebecca Lowe, Amarah Willey and Hunter Saunders. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth T. Willey and her husband, Richard Willey of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Louise Prahl of Cambridge; several additional sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hazel Hemming of Pleasant Ridge, Mich., Doris Reynolds and her husband, Roger Reynolds of Clawson, Mich., Mary Middleton and her husband, Harold J. Middleton of Mesa, Ariz. and Joyce Middleton of North Port, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death a brother, Benjamin F. Turner and a sister, Louise Hopkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on Race Street in Cambridge with the Rev. Ray Rogers and Pastor Adam Kegel officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Pallbearers will be Keith Turner, Kris Turner, Kirk Turner, Keith Elliott, Woodrow W. Rue III and Jamie Middleton.
