At Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the first babies of 2020 were determined to make the year memorable right from the start.

Ebony Snell of Berlin gave birth to the first boy of 2020 at PRMC, born at 5:16 a.m. on New Year’s Day, a bit sooner than expected. His due date was Jan. 9, and at just 5 pounds and 11 ounces, his start was a little bumpy.

Snell had been expecting a girl, and didn’t even have a boy’s name chosen -- she’s still thinking about what to call her new arrival. 

Cristina LeBarron of Princess Anne had the opposite experience. She said her little girl, Chloe Jade -- the first girl to be born at PRMC in 2020 -- waited a few days past her due date to make her debut at 11:24 a.m on New Year’s Day.

However, Cristina says husband, Phillip, had correctly guessed his daughter’s due date as the whole family eagerly anticipated Chloe’s arrival. At 8 pounds 4 ounces and 20 ¾ inches long, Chloe will be out of her newborn outfits in no time. 

Snell and LeBarron were both first-time moms. Their babies’ arrival date brought them something special: gift baskets from the Junior Auxiliary Board, a volunteer organization that works to support programs at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. All items were donated by the Junior Board and its members. 

The Junior Auxiliary Board, in 2020, is celebrating its 96^th year of service to the physicians, staff and volunteers of Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the people of the Delmarva Peninsula.

Since 1924, it has donated nearly $10 million to expansion projects, medical equipment, supplies and services at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
