Falcons playing Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium

The Fruitland Falcons will have a unique opportunity to play Saturday at Salisbury University's stadium. Above, the Salisbury Panthers played there last year.

The Fruitland Falcons Football U8 and U10 teams will have the opportunity to play at Salisbury University’s Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday.

The U8 team will play two games, followed by U10 playing a semi-final round to determine which team advances to the championship, according to Coach Kevin Lindsay.

Kickoff times are 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

“This is the second year of event. We did this with once before with the Wicomico Panthers in 2016 and now with the Fruitland Falcons Football,” Lindsay explained.

Jesse Campbell, coach in U10 division, called the game important because it “connects young folks with experiences and opportunities.”

Mark Urban, Football Operations and Treasurer, said the teams “truly appreciate Salisbury University for hosting the semi-finals of our U10 division along with the final U8 games of the season.”

“Allowing the players to have this opportunity is something they will remember for a lifetime,” he said.

“It’s an exciting day,” Lindsay said.

“Me and Jess always talk about how good Salisbury University athletics are. Just to get the youth and families in the area to pay more attention to them, we thought this would be another way to come to Seagull Stadium and pay a little more attention to what goes on at Salisbury University,” he said.

Among local residents invited are Maryland Delegate Carl Anderton, Sheriff Mike Lewis, City Administrator Julia Glanz, members of the Wicomico County Council and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donna Hanlin.

“Were excited about it. We’ve been playing for about a year now. Carl Anderton a few years ago came to me about this idea,” Lindsay said.

“We’re trying to keep it going.”
