CAMBRIDGE - Eunice Helen Nichols, of 402 Bayly Avenue, left this earth to be with her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019. Eunice was 97 years old and born in northern Durham County on June 3, 1921, the daughter of C. E. and Mattie Roberts Crabtree.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Hubert, Branson and Howard; and four sisters, Frances, Preston, Ann and Gertrude. Eunice always cherished her fond memories of growing up on her family's farm located near Bahama, N.C.
Eunice left North Carolina at the young age of 18 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. As a Registered Nurse, she spent her time, passion and energy caring for those in need at various hospitals in Baltimore and later performed private duty nursing in several nursing homes and private residences in Cambridge.
Eunice's love and affection for her family was never ending. She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia A. Chamberlain; and her devoted son, Henry E. Tilman, Jr. and his wife Sydney; as well as five grandsons, Dain P. Osborne, Nathan W. Tilman, David L. Tilman, Jason H. Bryan and Kevin D. Bryan; and seven great grandchildren.
A private grave side service was held on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 at the Unity-Washington Cemetery in Hurlock, Md. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coastal Hospice & Palliative Care, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
