The Entrepreneur Center @ Wicomico Public Libraries has opened a dedicated space dedicated to promoting, supporting and connecting the entrepreneur community.

Funded through a grant from Wicomico County and supported by the business community, this innovative space provides a hub for entrepreneur activities throughout Wicomico County and the Lower Eastern Shore.

Launch/SBY is the Entrepreneur Center's first initiative.

Designed on the entrepreneur start up model, Launch/SBY is a community supported project providing start-ups, local entrepreneurs, and college students with access to experts, professional training, and opportunities to network, innovate and create.

Supported by a unique combination of public, private and government funding, the goal is to create a space dedicated to and in support of a diverse community of entrepreneurs.

“This is not only a tech-based community,” said Library Executive Director Andrea Berstler.  “According to the National Business Incubation Association, only 37 percent of North American incubators are focused on technology. The remaining businesses come from other fields such as arts, manufacturing, fashion, food, etc.

“These incubators are helping to launch new businesses across the county,” she said. “The Library is pleased to be able to offer these diverse companies space and access to experts so as to improve the chances for their success.”

Entrepreneurship has been recognized as a leading model for business development and supported by local and national figures.

Wicomico Public Libraries are located in Downtown Salisbury, the Centre at Salisbury, in Pittsville, and the Library Bookmobile.
