Elvir Burkett Stanley

CAMBRIDGE - Elvir Burkett Stanley, devoted daughter of Christine and Charles Burkett, went home to be with The Lord on February 18, 2014. Elvir's early education was on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and she eventually retired from the Department of Education, in Washington, D.C., as a Grants Administrator. Elvir had a zest for life and lived each day to the fullest. At the time of her passing she was a faithful member of several organizations, including: Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church (Cambridge), Cedar Meadows Rod and Gun Club, Maces Lane Alumni Association, Red Hatters and Thomas-Pinkett Diaspora. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving brothers, Gary (Kelli) and Gale (Jean) Burkett; aunts, (Glendora and Sylvia (Alvin); a niece, three nephews, a great niece and nephew, cousins and a host of other family members and friends. Homegoing services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church, 425 High St., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to service.
