'Bertie' Parks, 79 TANGIER, Va. - Mrs. Elverta Ann "Bertie" Parks, 79, wife of the late Walter Edward Parks and a lifelong resident of Tangier, Va., passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Born Oct. 29, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Harry Wheatley and Dorothy Smith Wheatley. Bertie was a homemaker and member of the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Pruitt and her husband Clyde, and Anita Crockett, all of Tangier; a son, Matthew Parks and his wife Diana of Westover, Md.; a sister, Mildred Parks of Tangier; four grandchildren, Don, Denny, Shane and Paige Crockett; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Jacob and Nikki Crockett; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Kelley Parks. Funeral services were conducted from the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Patricia Stover and Bertie's grandson, Denny Crockett, officiating. Interment followed at the Sunnyridge Cemetery in Crisfield, Md. There was a visitation at the church on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the family of Bertie Parks, Care of Cindy Pruitt, P.O.
