Elmer 'JR' Miller

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Elmer "JR" Miller, a former resident of Jenkintown, Pa., and Taylor Island passed away on Feb. 24, 2007, at a Hospice facility in Fort Myers.

Born in Philadelphia, Feb. 26, 1913, he lived in Jenkintown with his wife, Helen, for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen, and son, "Skip," a pilot.

Mr. Miller had his degree in Agriculture. Before he retired, he worked in a local machine/automotive shop where he was head of the union. When he retired, he raised bees and sold the honey and wax to local candy stores located in Jenkintown.

He also loved antiquing. He was an auctioneer and just love to find hidden treasures.

After his retirement and the passing of his wife, he moved to Taylors Island. He met and married Phyllis Murphy Miller. Mrs. Miller was a long time resident of Cambridge. She predeceased "JR" in September 2006.

After he married Phyllis, they relocated to Fort Myers five years ago.

His hobbies included golf, painting, bird watching and growing flowers.

There will be a memorial service at Old Trinity Church located in Church Creek, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice or Old Trinity Church.
