Ellen Frances Ward, 79
CRISFIELD - Ellen Frances Ward passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.
Born in Crisfield on September 17, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Ruth E. Lewis Ward. Her husband, Howard William Ward, Sr. preceded her in death on October 29, 2019.
Ellen was a 1961 graduate of Crisfield High School, where she enjoyed playing field hockey, and also graduated from the Delmarva Beauty Academy as a Cosmetologist. She owned her own beauty shop, Ellen's Chatter Box, where she worked for 58 years.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing BINGO and was a member of a bowling league. She loved riding on the golf cart, going to Gordon's, playing dominoes and cards, and going out to lunch with her girlfriends. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch with her next door neighbor, Chrissy Lawson. Although she worked as a Beautician, it was her favorite hobby of all.
She is survived by her son, Howard William "Billy" Ward, Jr. of Crisfield; grandchildren, Howard William "Billy" Ward, III of Crisfield and Brystal Autumn Ward of Palm Coast, FL; sister-in-law, Neva Rae Howard; sister, Ruth Ann Massey and husband Charles; nieces and nephew, Beth Ward, Penny Ward, Ellen Dize, Joyce Morgan, Rhea Walston, Bonnie Ford, Carol Ann Muir, and Donnie Howard; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her beloved pet dog, Skipper.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Grover Richard Ward and his estranged wife, Ellistene "Teeny" Howard.
Funeral services at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home were held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 2 PM with a viewing one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Daniels officiated and interment followed in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
