Dr. Frederick Kundell, 80 TYASKIN - Dr. Frederick A. "Fred" Kundell, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at his home in Tyaskin. Born in Pulaski, N.Y., his parents were the late Edward James Kundell and Isabelle Caufield Kundell. He graduated from Pulaski Academy and Central School in 1958. He received his bachelor's degree from Harpur College in Binghamton, N.Y., and his doctorate from the University of Maryland in 1967. He taught at the University Maryland College Park prior to moving to Salisbury. He taught Chemistry at Salisbury University, was Associate Academic Dean of Science and Chairman of the Department of Chemistry. He retired from Salisbury University in 2018. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Gabrys Kundell; a son, Kenneth Frederick Kundell of Berlin; daughters, Gretchen Kundell Peek of Delmar and Kirsten Anne Kundell of Delmar; four grandchildren; two siblings, Kathleen Lawton of Mexico, N.Y.; and Jeanne Wilson of Inlet, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Edward Kundell. A private vigil service will be held at noon, Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, which will be live webcasted by Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
