TODDVILLE - Dorothy L. Murphy, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
She was born in Toddville on Aug. 21, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Ovy Earl and Mildred Anna Mason Todd.
Mrs. Murphy attended schools in South Dorchester. In May 1953, she married Bernard Patrick Lewis Murphy, who passed away on Jan. 18, 1983.
She had worked for Cambridge Sewing Factory as a seamstress and with W.C. Dean Seafood Co. Some of her hobbies were gardening and cooking. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Toddville.
She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Tolley and husband, Martin of Fishing Creek; a son, Patrick T. Murphy of Toddville; a granddaughter, Nicole Foxwell and husband, Steve of Secretary; children from Mr. Murphy"s previous marriage, Patricia Jones of Cambridge and John Murphy of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl E. and Leonard W. Todd and a child from Mr. Murphy"s previous marriage, William Murphy.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Smith, Christopher Sears, Roy Askins, Ricky Todd, Gillis Todd Jr. and Steve Foxwell.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. George W. Wheatley Jr. officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
