Doris M. Stordy, 81

CAMBRIDGE - Doris M. Stordy, 81, passed away at Washington Medical Center in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

She was born on May 28, 1926 in Reading, Pa. and was a daughter of the late Nicholas W. and Myrtle Fairall Ferri.

In 1948 she married William J. Stordy who passed away in 1984. Doris was a member of the Shelton Congregational Church and also served as an Auxiliary Member with the Echo Hose Company, Shelton Fire Department, Shelton, Conn. She was employed by Aquarian Company of Bridgeport, Conn. for 34 years.

Upon her retirement she moved to Cambridge. Mrs. Stordy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, serving as Leader of the Rebekah Circle, Secretary of Dr. Hines Class and Secretary of Grace United Methodist Women. She was a member of Dorchester County Homemakers and held several offices in the County and local Cambridge Senior Homemakers.

She is survived by several cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, a sister, Carol Margaret preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Services will also be held at the Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton, Conn. and burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Shelton, Conn.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St., Cambridge, MD, 21613.
