SALISBURY - Doris Dayton, 78, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008 in Salisbury following a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Keene Dayton Sr.
She is survived by sons, Jeffrey M. Dayton and Billy K. Dayton and his wife, Joan; grandchildren, Christopher, Jeremy, Danielle and Jeffrey, and one great-grandchild, Hailey.
Born on Hoopers Island, Doris loved the beach, lighthouses and picking crabs. She was a former employee of Gant Shirt Co. and Maryland Industries for the Blind.
She was a longtime member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and she sang in the choir.
In lieu of flowers, Doris wished that memorial donations be sent to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 400 E. Vine St., Salisbury, MD 21804.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's at 11:30 a.m. today. The Rev. Sally Dolch will officiate. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Social Hall.
